La dolce vita

I've been celebrating my brother's 50th birthday. He is the successful one in our family so the party was held at a fancy spa on the west coast. With photo restrictions which I find very appropriate. I would not like to think I'mk in somebody's blog or family album - wearing a swim suit and a funny face.

This is part of the view from the place:

I can't believe people actually go sailing in conditons like these, 4 degrees C in the water and 3 degrees C in the air - and a brisk west wind.

And this is part of the interior.

This is another kind of celebration;

The snow is gone (nearly) and the creek is overflowing. And today as I went lunching with Jeanette I wore these boots. So spring is actually here - cheers!

Showtime...

I was challenged by Maria to show the fourth photo from the fourth file in my computer's selection of photos. Since we bought a new computer this summer it doesn't go that far back in time. I think you've seen this before? It's me. On my way to somewhere I don't remember anymore. But I remember wearing those shoes at work, it hurt. But you know, don't be vain if you can't take the pain...
N.B. this is not the official attitude of the helylle-foträta styling experience, foträt means literally foot right as in good for your feet.

Skor, sommarkollektionen - Shoes, the summer collection

Does Anna of Helylle practise what she teaches? Judge for yourselves, here are the pictures!Detta är högt älskade träskor, oftatst använda i trädgården. Står inför en uppdatering med tanke på alla modeorakel som nu dikterar "sommarens sko är en träsko!". These are dearly beloved clogs, mostly used in the garden. Are about to be updated considering all the fashion oracles who now dictate that "the summer shoe is a clog!"

Vem vågar följa med in i denna skärseld?? (Ja, det är en dammsugare därinne. Bland annat.)

Who dares to follow through this puragtorium?? (Yes, it's a vacuumcleaner in there. Among other things.)

Nej, vi tar ut skorna i stället. No, let's take the shoes out instead.


Här är hela gänget. Vinterskorna ligger/står i källaren och surar. Meet the gang. Wintershoes are in the basement sulking.

Och nu några individuella framträdanden. Dansskor som sällan får dansa men som ofta får hänga med ändå på roligheter eftersom de är så mjuka. Ganska mesig färg så de passar till det mesta. Bruna sandaletter från 40-talet, tillverkade av Tretorn. Högsta klacken av dem alla, säkert 5 cm. And now som individual performances. Dancing shoes that rarely dances but get to come along at fun events anyway because they are so soft. Pretty lame colour that goes with almost anything. Brown sandals from the 40s, made by Tretorn. The highest heel of the lot, probably 5 cm.

Ett ganska nytt Traderafynd, röda nubuckskor från Think. Jag betalade 85:-. A fairly new finding from a Swedish auction site, red "have-no-idea-what-it's-called-in -English-and it's-not-in-the-dictionary-either-but-I-guess-it-could-be-described-as-polished-suede" shoes from Think. I paid a little more than 8 euro.

Japanska herrskor i skojig modell. Sköna och otroligt varma. Färgen är kul, tycker jag. Vet inte varför de är med bland sommarskorna, antagligen pga färgen. Japanese mens' shoes, in fun model. Comfy and incredibly warm. Colour is fun, I think. Don't know why they're among the summer shoes, probably because of the colour.

Väldigt kvinnliga skor som klapprar glatt i korridorerna på skolan. Very feminine shoes that clatter merrily in the hallways at school.



Klassisk remsandal köpt i Köpenhamn för 15 år sedan. Har överlevt det mesta inklusive valpangrepp (syns på framförallt vänstersandalen!). Antagligen hänger de med i 15 år till.

Classical strap sandals bought in Copenhagen 15 years ago. Have survived most things including a puppy attack (shows especially on the left sandal). Will probably be around 15 more years.

Ja, slut på rundvandringen. Nästa avsnitt kommer förhoppningsvis i mitten av oktober, då med gamla vinterfavoriter. Well, end of guided tour. Next episode will hopefully air in mid October, with old winter favourites.

När man tittar första gången tänker man "oj, vilken trevlig och stadig mugg". Titta igen! Fortfarande en stadig och trevlig mugg.........men!? Kanske blir den värdefull en vacker dag?

When you see it at first you think "gee, what a nice and steady mug". Look again! Still a steady and nice mug.............but!? Maybe it'll be valueable some day?

Cello och skor, 2 bra saker Cello and shoes, 2 good things

På allmän begäran kommer här en bild till på sockorna, eller i alla fall en. Det är bra att vara varm om fötterna när man spelar cello (föreställer jag mig, kanske ännu viktigare att vara varm om händerna?) så Siri har fått dem. Det är svårt med fyra barn, av vilka åtminstone tre gärna tar emot hemstickat, att få det rättvist fördelat. Det är nog Ylvas tur härnäst. At request I here show the socks, or one sock, at least, again. It's good to have warm feet (I imagine, perhaps even more important to have warm hands?) so Siri got them. It's difficult with four children, of whom at least three gladly accepts home knit, to get it evenly distributed. I think Ylva is up next.

Siri uppskattade inte att bli fotograferad igår vilket utmande fotografen i mig (hemsk mamma). Dessa bilder har hon så klart godkänt. Siri didn't appreciate being photographed yesterday which challenged the photographer in me (horrible mum). These pics she of course approved of.

Jag godkänner inte röran på golvet. I don't approve of the mess on the floor.

Lite blandat smågodis! Mitt favoritskomärke, tyska Trippen. Aahh, jag säger inte att jag har några, jag säger bara att de är mina favoriter. Det blir inte mer foträtt än så här, skönt och spejsat. En vacker dag... Some assorted sweets! My favourite shoe brand, the German Trippen. Aaah, I'm not saying I have any, I'm just saying they're my favourites. It doesn't get more foträt than this, comfy and far out. One of these days...

Helylle och foträt

Nu är de klara, makens sockar! Jätteenkla och skojiga att sticka. Nästa projekt blir ett par sockar med falska flätor. Ni ser dem på bilden här nedanför (bilden är från föreningen Stickas hemsida). Now they're finished, Mr Helylle's socks! Really simple and fun to knit. Next project will be socks with false braids. Here's a picture (from the Swedish knitters assocoation Sticka).





Kolla in allt garn jag fick för 50:- på annons! Ullgarner, bomullsgarner och mattrasor i rött, gult och skärt. Look att all the yarn I got for about $5! Wool, cotton and cut stripes in red, yellow and pink for making more rugs.

Visst är etiketten gullig? Och en liten docktröja följde med på köpet. Isn't the label cute? And a dolly sweater into the bargain.
